Getting to Know Your Car Night with Christine Mitchell

Getting to Know Your Car Night with Christine Mitchell

Last Wednesday was the second quarterly Getting to Know Your Car Night with The Car Lady Christine Mitchell. These events take place at Bustard Chrysler in Waterloo and provide a great opportunity for car buyers to learn more about their new vehicle’s technical and safety features, underhood, underbody, brakes and tires. Christine also reviews best practices for reducing your vehicle’s operating costs, how to take care of the interior and exterior, and what to do in the event of an accident.

Christine Mitchell begins her presentation by discussing her passion for cars and how The Car Lady came to be. Christine has been passionate about cars since she learned how to drive. The first time she looked under the hood of a car, she knew she wanted to work with cars for the rest of her life. For many years, she worked in the car industry as a service advisor, salesperson and automotive technician. She started The Car Lady so she could share her knowledge and passion of cars with the world.

She goes on to discuss the Roadside Assistance programs available to all buyers of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram products. Chrysler Roadside Assistance is more comprehensive than CAA coverage, and there is no limit to the number of times car owners can call for assistance. The service is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and can be used in both Canada and the United States. Whether you have a flat tire, run out of gas, lock your keys in your vehicle, or have a dead battery, Chrysler Roadside Assistance will dispatch a towing service to get you driving again.

Car Lady Christine Mitchell shows us the underhood of a Dodge Journey
At this week’s Getting to Know Your Car Night, Christine provided participants with tons of helpful tips and interesting tidbits, for example explaining the benefits of setting your vehicle’s emergency brake when parked. She gets under the hood of a Dodge Journey to identify important components of a vehicle, such as the engine, and clarifies how to go about checking oil levels and fill windshield washer fluid. She discusses how often maintenance should be done, and she is happy to answer participant’s questions in a concise, clear, and non-technical matter so that everyone understands. Participants are then taken on a tour of Bustard’s service department.

Back in service, Christine shows us some important components under the body of a Jeep Renegade, including reviewing brake parts and the importance of regular brake maintenance. Brakes are a car’s most important safety feature, and regular maintenance is crucial to driver (and passenger!) safety. Christine does an excellent job helping participants understand how their brakes work and how often maintenance should be done.

After showing participants the underbody of the vehicle and reviewing maintenance requirements, Christine brings us through Bustard’s Fine Details detailing shop to discuss how to ensure your vehicle stays clean and in optimal exterior/interior condition for years to come. Fine Details lead Tyler Boles discusses the benefits of having your vehicle cleaned regularly, and shows participants a sample of Fine Details’ work.

Getting to Know Your Car Night concludes in the Bustard showroom with final questions and some fun giveaways. Overall, the second event was a great success and participants came out with a better understanding of how their vehicles work, important warranty considerations, and some vital maintenance information and tips. If this sounds like something you would be interested in attending, please contact Bustard Waterloo’s Service department at waterlooservice@bustard.com or (519) 884-9570. The next event is taking place on Thursday, August 25th at 6:30 pm and we look forward to having you join us!
