2022 Jeep Cherokee Features and Specs

This veteran of the off-road SUV market is as popular today as it ever was.

The Jeep Cherokee arrived in 2014, with the promise of off-road capability and on-road comfort. As it enters its ninth year, it has fulfilled those promises and developed a huge fanbase.

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee is still as competent in the wilderness as it is on the freeway and, though there are no revolutionary changes this year, there are enough features to tempt any buyer.

Lineup

For 2022, Jeep has given the Cherokee range six models:

  • Sport at $59,045
  • North at $44,040
  • Altitude at $55,040
  • Limited at $59,045
  • Trailhawk at $63,645
  • Trailhawk Elite at $67,140

Engines

The Jeep Sport comes equipped with the 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir I-4 engine coupled to a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

All the other models have the 3.2L Pentastar Variable Valve Timing (VVT) V6 coupled with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. This motor has engine start-stop technology fitted as standard.

The Limited range has an optional engine in the 2.0L DOHC I-4 DI turbocharged engine with start-stop technology.

Driver Aids

All the models come with a high level of driver aid. They all have Traction Control, Hill-start Assist, Stability Control (ESC), and Roll Mitigation (ERM).

Key Features

The baseline Sport has a UConnect 4 Multimedia touchscreen console with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This also has the capability to have a Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription-based). Additionally, it has heated front seats and comes with LED lights for both the front and rear.

Next in line is the North, which builds on the Sport; it adds a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, and LED fog lamps.

Then there’s the Altitude, which adds Uconnect 4C NAV Multimedia Center, which allows you to interface with your apps, has built-in drive enhancing tools and traffic, and navigation aids. It also comes with gloss black badging, body accents, and 18” gloss black aluminum wheels.

The Limited has all the features in the Altitude and adds leather-faced seats and driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear park assistance.

The top-of-the-line Trailhawk is fully equipped to tackle the most rugged terrain. It comes with Jeep’s Active Drive Lock 4x4 system. This brings a host of off-road capabilities, including a rear differential lock, traction management for rocks, snow, sand, and mud, body and vehicle protection, and raised air intake.

All models share the same seven colours for the body. These range from basic white, black, and silver to the more exotic Velvet Red, Sting Gray, Hydro Blue Pearl, and Granite Crystal Metallic.

Conclusion

This capable, comfortable SUV is more than just a vehicle; it’s a lifestyle. Driving a 2022 Jeep Cherokee, you will find it easy to go from highway and cocktails during the workweek to mountains and trails during the weekend.

This is a versatile vehicle from a highly reputable manufacturer that will not only hold its value but give you hours of pleasurable driving.
