2022 Jeep Gladiator

For years, mid-size truck enthusiasts started lobbying for Jeep to bring out a truck version of the Jeep Wrangler. Jeep finally gave in and finally brought out the Jeep Gladiator. At a glance, the 2022 Jeep Gladiator seems identical to the Jeep Wrangler, but if you look more closely, you’ll see that it has a five-foot cargo bed, and it comes standard in four-wheel drive.

Other similarities to the Wrangler include being able to remove the roof as well as being able to hold up to five occupants. The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is the only mid-size truck on the market, and it also offers a much roomier backseat than other trucks in its category.

The pickup truck is available in seven trims: the Sport S, Willys, Altitude, Overland, Rubicon, Mojave and High Altitude. Pricing starts from $50,045 for the Sport S and goes up to $65,835 for the High Altitude trim.

Specs and Performance

The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is powered by a 3.6 L V6 Pentastar engine that gives out 260 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm and 285 horsepower at 6,400 rpm. The mid-size has variable valve timing or VVT. This process alters the timing and is used to improve performance, emissions and fuel economy. You can expect to get approximately 23 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city. The truck will get you 19 mpg combined, and the fuel tank capacity is 22 gallons.

The mid-size truck has a towing capacity of up to 4,000 pounds and can take a maximum payload of 1,700 pounds.

What’s New

The Sport S trim receives a seven-inch touchscreen with Android and iOS smartphone integration as a standard feature. All the upper trims are available with an 8.4-inch touchscreen as a standard feature, complete with an Alpine audio system and onboard navigation system.

Safety

This mid-size truck has standard safety features that include Collision-Warning Plus. This system alerts the driver of an imminent forward collision. The system will apply the vehicle’s brakes automatically if the driver does not react in time. Additional safety features include Blind-Spot Monitoring with Cross-Traffic alerts. This system will warn the driver if other cars are in the blind spot, including approaching cars out of the driver’s view while in reverse. The truck also comes standard with Rear-Parking Assist.

The National Highway and Traffic Safety Association completed tests on the 2022 Jeep Gladiator, which included front barrier crash ratings for passengers and drivers. The NHTSA’s independent analysis scored the vehicle at 4/5 and 5/5, respectively.
