For 2022, the Ram 2500 is available with a choice of two powerful engines. The base level mill is a 6.4L gas V8 making a huge 410 horsepower and 429lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
And while the gas engine provides an impressive amount of power and performance, trading up to the 6.7L turbodiesel inline-six takes capability to an entirely new level. The 370 horsepower is slightly down on the gas engine's rating, but this is more than compensated for by the mammoth 850lb-ft of torque. An output of this level means the 2500 is capable of the toughest heavy duty tasks while barely breaking sweat.
Towing and Payload Capacities
But of course, the true measure of a pickup is how much it can handle in payload and towing. The 2022 Ram 2500 is an impressive performer in this area, with the gas engine capable of carrying 1,473kg in payload with 6,532kg in trailer weight behind. The diesel mill offers the same payload rating, but as you'd expect the towing capacity receives a significant boost with a maximum rating of 7,668kg, taking the model into true heavy duty truck territory.
Interior and Infotainment
Three cab formats are available for the 2022 Ram 2500: a single, a four-door Crew Cab, and a Mega Cab with a generous amount of rear seating space. All three cabs are kitted out to an exceptionally comfortable level, with an attention to detail more usually seen in high-end family SUVs than heavy duty trucks.
The cabin also boasts an incredible amount of infotainment technology, with touchscreen displays ranging from 8" to 12" in size. Standard and available features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and integrated navigation. Device charging and tool powering are handled by five USB ports and up to three 115V, 400W outlets.
