2023 Jeep Gladiator

Increased off-road capabilities have arrived in the form of the 2023 Jeep Gladiator. It’s a rigged utility vehicle with a dose of technology to get your most comfortable ride yet. The brand is synonymous with reliability, and the Gladiator is a firm favourite thanks to its authentic Jeep design.

Let’s look at what’s new for 2023, including the models available and potential pricing.

Power, Efficiency and Function

The Gladiator is a five-seater in the pickup class. It has 285 horsepower from the 3.6-litre V6 engine. There are options for an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. It gets you a combined fuel efficiency of 12.6 L per 100 km, which is fairly similar to the 2022 Gladiator.

It has a 1.5-metre bed and can handle a payload of up to 775 kg and a towing capacity of 3,942 kg. There’s no doubt that it’s a practical choice for road trips, camping or work. You get the driving style of the classic Wrangler, but with the bonus of a pickup.

Models and Pricing

There are four Gladiator models for 2023. Pricing looks set to start at around $51,000 and go up to around $68,000. The actual price you pay will depend on the options and model you choose.

The Sport comes with the six-speed manual transmission as standard. Its driveline includes the Command-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case, helping to give extra grip even with low traction. The next model up, the Overland, comes with the TorqureFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Mojave has a manual transmission and 17-inch alloy wheels and is made for speed, even when it’s off-road. It has Fox 6.3 centimetre internal bypass shocks and hydraulic jounce bumpers to improve handling.

The Gladiator Rubicon has electric front and rear locking differentials and 33-inch tires, giving it the ultimate off-road capabilities. The bumpers are off-road winch-capable and upgraded cloth seats.

Comfort and Technology

The Gladiator is kitted out with a 7-inch Uconnect system on the Sport and an 8.4-inch screen on all other models. It includes Android Auto and Apple Car Play. There’s also an 8-speaker audio system and in-car Wifi as standard on all models. Navigation is available on the Sport and standard on the Overland, Mojave and Rubicon.

All models can get fitted with the Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop for the open-air experience. It’s a front-row soft top that can easily be flipped back. Adaptive cruise control and rear cross-path detection systems increase the safety and comfort of your drive.
