Exterior Design

The new Dodge Hornet has an aggressive stance that fits its claim to be the fastest vehicle in the compact utility space. The hood has iconic Dodge heat extractors that give the hood a distinctive shape. The front grille is given a mail-slot design, and the rear tail lights run the vehicle's width with the Dodge logo illuminated in the center. These design cues give the Hornet a distinctive look from the front and rear and appeal to all tastes.

Interior Design

The interior design of the Dodge Hornet has been planned around the driver. The center-stacked controls, the display screens, and the air conditioning vents are all angled slightly toward the driver. The car boasts a 31.2cm screen with a digital cluster of instruments for the driver, and the infotainment system runs on an accompanying 26cm screen.

Technology

The new Hornet is full of the best in technology. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system is standard in both trims. This Android-based system features a home screen that can be personalized, dual-phone connection, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and an in-vehicle Alexa virtual assistant with a natural-sounding voice.

The sound system is top of the class, with a Harmon Kardon system connected to 14 speakers and a subwoofer. Not only is the infotainment world-class, but there are also all the usual driver assistance features. The Hornet’s Level 2 autonomy includes Driver Attention Assist, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent Speed Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Performance

The Dodge Hornet R/T and R/T Plus represent the first by this manufacturer into the electrified space. These vehicles deliver exceptional performance with 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, and using the new PowerShot feature, the driver can go from 0-96.5 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The Powershot feature gives a 15-second horsepower boost.

  • The R/T and R/T Plus offer several driving modes. These include Sport mode, and in the hybrid space, there are Electric, Hybrid, and E-Save.
  • The Dodge R/T and R/T Plus have a 580 km total range, with 51.5km on pure electric. The fuel consumption for these vehicles is 3.05 L/100km.
  • The R/T and R/T Plus come equipped with an inverter and a 7.4-kW charging system that will fully charge the battery in approximately 2.5 hours using a Level 2 charger.
  • The ICE variant of this model, the Dodge GT and GT Plus, are also no slouch on the roads. The Hurricane4 2.0-litre engine powers these models, giving 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Selecting Sport Mode will take the GT and GT Plus from 0-96.5 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
