Two Powerful Gas Engines

If you're happy to stick with a gas powertrain, there are two engine choices available in the 2022 lineup. As standard, there's a 3.6L V6 mill pushing out 293 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission feeding your choice or rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

And while the standard powertrain is capable enough, drivers who want to test this SUV's off-road ability to the maximum will enjoy the optional 5.7L Hemi V8 which cranks out fully 357 horsepower and 390lb-ft, taking mid-size SUV power to an entirely new level. As with the V6, the power is passed through an eight-speed automatic transmission, but with this engine all-wheel drive is standard.

All-New Hybrid Option

But even that's not the end of the powertrain choices. New for 2022 is the 4xe hybrid option, first applied to Jeep's Wrangler lineup but now available too on the Grand Cherokee. This option marries a 2.0L four-cylinder gas engine with two electric motors to deliver a combined output of 375 horsepower and 470lb-ft, comfortably at the head of the hybrid SUV performance pack. And what's more, all this power is delivered with excellent hybrid fuel economy rated at just 4.1L / 100km, thanks in part to the sizable 40km of all-electric range.

New Interior and Advanced Infotainment

But it's not only under the hood where the 2022 Grand Cherokee has been upgraded. The new interior design includes high-end features like quilted leather upholstery and real wood trims to create a genuinely upscale feel.

The advanced infotainment features are accessed through a touchscreen display measuring either 8.4" or 10.1", with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay supplying smartphone integration as standard. Optional upgrades include in-built navigation with real-time weather and traffic updates, a 10" head-up display, a configurable digital instrument cluster, and an additional 10.3" display for the front passenger.

Active Safety and Driver Assist Features

The touchscreen displays can also be used to access the advanced suite of active safety and driver assist systems included with every 2022 Grand Cherokee model. Standard highlights include:
