2022 Ram 1500 vs 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

2022 Ram 1500 vs 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

In 2022, Ram will offer its half-ton pickup with different configurations. Laramie and Rebel are now available with a sporty G/T package, the rugged BackCountry Edition, and the new 10th Anniversary Edition.

On the other hand, Chevy's Silverado received some substantial changes for 2022. Front ends have been redesigned on all trims, but interiors are new only on the LT and higher trims. This model also features a 12.3-inch multifunction display and a large touch-screen infotainment system.

Performance

Performance

With the 2022 Ram 1500, all trim levels come with a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission that pairs with V6 and V8 gasoline engines. The engines are aided by a hybrid powertrain powered by 48 volts, but the Hemi V8 is also available without electric assistance. Compared to rivals who use leaf springs, the Ram 1500 uses air springs or coil springs for their rear suspension, resulting in an impressive ride.

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers five engine options, including a four-cylinder engine, a turbocharged V8, and a 3.0-litre inline-six Duramax Turbo Diesel Engine, which means that the Silverado 1500 can handle any job. The Silverado High Country achieved 100 km/h in about 5.4 seconds with the 420-hp 6.2-litre engine, which is the fastest.

Payload and Towing Capacities

Payload and Towing Capacities

With a payload of up to 2,320 pounds, the Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds. Only the Silverado 1500 has a higher maximum towing capacity than it, which surpasses 13,000 pounds. Even though crew cab Dodge Rams aren’t as powerful as extended Quad Cab models, they can still tow over 11,500 pounds.

A half-ton Silverado can tow 13,300 pounds, making it a capable hauler. Its maximum towing capacity outperforms the Ram 1500 by 550 pounds. Chevrolet's top towing rating can be achieved by diesel and V8 engines, although the 5.3-litre version can still tow 11,500 pounds. The Chevy pickup has a range of 1,870 to 2,280 pounds of payload.

Fuel Economy

Fuel Economy

Fuel efficiency varies between Ram 1500's V6 and V8 hybridized and diesel engines. A V6 Ram can achieve 8.5 km/L in the city and 11.05 km/L on the highway, while a V8 can achieve 7.23 km/L in the city and 9.78 km/L on the highway. With all-wheel drive, diesel Rams achieve 9.35 km/L in the city and 13.6 km/L on the highway. While the Silverado 1500, with the diesel engine, can achieve up to 9.78 km/L in the city and 14.03 km/L on the highway. The all-wheel-drive reduces its highway rating to 11.05 km/L.
