Celebrate Canada Day at one of Waterloo Region’s amazing events!
Waterloo Region is certainly proud to be a part of Canada and we know you are too! If you still aren’t sure what to do this upcoming Friday for Canada Day, there are plenty of free, fun-filled and family friendly activities you can partake in around Waterloo Region. We’ve compiled info on some of the biggest events to help you decide, including the Columbia Lake Canada Day celebrations, the City of Kitchener Canada Day celebrations, and the Cambridge Riverside Park Canada Day celebrations. It’s sure to be a fun-filled day across this proud Region!
Columbia Lake Canada Day
Every year, the University of Waterloo hosts a massive Canada Day celebration at Columbia Lake in Waterloo. This Friday, from 4:00-10:30 pm, the University of Waterloo presents a family friendly celebration featuring music, food and activities for all ages. From 4:00 – 6:00 pm, the little ones will enjoy a series of live Canada-related performances, including a show by Splash ‘N Boots (of Treehouse TV fame) hosted by TVOKids Host Kara! Other family activities include (but are not limited to) a wide range of booths and activities presented by various community partners, such as our friends over at Drayton Entertainment, as well as many fun field activations and performers, including clowns, face painters, and caricaturists. From 6:00-10:00 pm at the Open Text stage, enjoy shows by Canadian pop star Francesco Yates and Canadian rock icons Trooper. Food and drinks (including a 19+ beer garden), will be available for purchase for the duration of the event. At 10 pm, you will be amazing by the phenomenal fireworks display put on over the Lake! City of Kitchener Canada Day
The City of Kitchener never ceases to put on some phenomenal events and Canada Day 2016 will be no exception! This Friday, from 4:00 until 10:30 pm, the City of Kitchener presents a family friendly celebration featuring an awesome musical lineup, a Beer Garden (19+), and diverse food and vendor market. The grand finale – fireworks off the top of City Hall – is always a delight to people young and old. Bands playing at this fun and free event include Matt Weidinger with Cheryl Lescom, the Gary Cain Band, Kiki Rowe, Jocelyn Alice, Modern Space, and headliners The Glorious Sons. Did we mention this event is FREE for the whole family to enjoy, with items such as food, beer, and cool stuff from vendors available for purchase. Cambridge Riverside Park Canada Day
This Friday, the City of Cambridge celebrates 42 years of celebrations in Cambridge in Riverside Park. Beginning at 1:00 pm, check out a Canada Day parade hosted by pro boxer Fitz “The Whip” Vanderpool. In Riverside Park from 4:00-10:00 pm, enjoy a wide range of activities, including PWA Live Pro Wrestling, and live entertainment, as well as a Children’s Area and Carnival for the little ones! The children’s area will feature a ton of fun activities for kids including performances by Captain Carbin and UltiMuttz.
