Is Your Car Ready for the Winter Season?
It’s getting colder by the day, and we all know those impending subzero temperatures can be problematic for your car. Seasonal changes significantly impact car performance and so there are a number of steps you should take in order to get your car ready for winter!
 
Have your mechanic check the following items:
 
Battery and Charging System
One of the first steps you should take to get your car ready for winter is to have your battery and charging system tested by a trained technician. Cooling System
Another important thing to take care of when getting your car ready for winter is to have your car’s cooling system flushed and refilled according to manufacturer’s specifications. The level, condition, and concentration of coolant, as well as the tightness and condition of drive belts, clamps, and hoses should be periodically checked by a trained technician.
 
Tire type, Tread, and Pressure

Replace your tires if they have less than 3/32 inches of tread. Uneven tire wear may indicate issues with your car’s alignment, wheel balance, and suspension.
 
Make sure you regularly check tire pressure during the fall and winter months. Tire pressure drops with temperature and so it is that much more important to monitor tire inflation during the winter season. You can find the proper tire pressure level in your owner’s manual or a sticker on the driver’s side door jamb.
 
Wiper Blades and Washer Fluid
Your wiper blades should completely clean the glass with every swipe. Replace your blades if they leave streaks or missed spots. Refill your washer fluid with winter washer fluid during the winter months to keep it from freezing.
