New Years Eve in Waterloo Region

If you’re looking for a fun and family-friendly way to spend your New Years Eve, there are plenty of great options throughout Waterloo Region that are also easy on the wallet! The cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge host great New Years Eve celebrations that the whole family can enjoy!

New Years at Kitchener City Hall

Ring in New Years with the Force at the City of Kitchener’s New Years event. Kitchener will be hosting a Star Wars themed celebration at City Hall from 6pm-12am on December 31st. From 6-8pm, tons of fun kids activities will be offered, including crafts, face painting, an opportunity to get your picture taken with Star Wars characters, ice skating on Carl Zehr Square, and a hot chocolate decorating station. On the Rotunda (inside City Hall) from 6pm-12am, a Star Wars Expo will be taking place. Canadian Toy Con will have Toy Con and retro arcade games available to play, and visitors can also enjoy a Vintage Gaming Lounge presented by Games Exchange. KW Nerd Nite will be hosting a booth where you can learn more about their monthly events, and there will be 20+ additional vendors on site selling Star Wars and space memorabilia on site.

There will be music too! On the Main Stage at Carl Zehr Square you can check out School of Rock from 10:30-11pm, and CleanSL8 from 11-11:55 pm. Members of council and other special guests will be ringing in the New Year beginning at 11:55.

New Years in Waterloo Public Square

The City of Waterloo will be hosting a celebration in Waterloo Public Square from 6-9 pm on December 31st. A local DJ will be putting on a light show and playing popular music from 2015. Weather permitting, the skating rink will be open to anyone who brings along a pair of skates. Free hot chocolate will be served courtesy of Tim Hortons. In addition, Mad Science will be on site providing demonstrations and fun interactive activities for the kids, and the City of Waterloo’s latest community art project, 2016 Wishes, will be on site to collect your wish for 2016! This event is free, and tons of fun for the whole family!

New Years at the Hespeler Arena in Cambridge

Tons of other activities will be offered including crafts, games, a photo booth, bouncy castle, and magic shows presented by comedic magician IncrediBrent at 6 pm and 7 pm.
