Spring is in the air and in this part of Ontario, we all know that means the taps are flowing at your local Maple Syrup producer!
Bustard Chrysler operates two dealerships in Southwestern Ontario, one in Waterloo and one in Listowel. Both dealerships are in Maple Syrup country and there are a ton of great producers and some fun events and festivals that you should check out if you love Maple Syrup as much as us!
If you're located in the Waterloo Regions, chances are that you have heard of, and probably even attended!) the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. This Festival is proud to claim itself as the world's largest maple syrup festival. It has been running strong for 50 years, 2015 being the 51st year. If you're thinking about checking it our, you can find it on Arthur St. in Elmira this Saturday, March 28th from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event features fun activities for the whole family, including Sugarbush tours, a pancake flipping competition, a vendor mall where you can check out antiques, a craft and toy show, and of course LOTS of Maple Syrup. This is a volunteer-led festival with 40% of the profits donated to Elmira District Community Living. The remainder of the Festival proceeds are spread amongst a long list of community organizations throughout the Region. If you're looking for directions, click HERE.
For those of you closer to the Listowel area, the 21st annual Holstein Maplefest is taking place on Saturday April 11th and Sunday April 12th in Holstein's 40-acre Sugarbush. 2015 marks the 21st year of the event which is presented by the Egremont Optimist Club. The two-day Maplefest will feature a ton of events the whole family can enjoy, such as a Rib Dinner, Pancake Breakfast, craft show, storytelling, face painting and live music. The event is highlighted by over 30 demonstrations, including maple syrup making, ice cream making, butter making, beekeeping and sheep shearing - among many others.
