Weekend Events in Waterloo in June

We’re already a week into June! The summer months mean tons of fun across Waterloo Region, where fun events and activities the whole family can enjoy take place every weekend! This June is no exception – there’s a wide range of weekend events to appeal to people of all ages!
 
We’ve compiled a list of some of the fun special weekend events taking place across Waterloo Region during the month of June, check it out!

Friday, June 9th Events

Smoke n Sounds: Smoke n sounds is a sanctioned BBQ competition featuring a bbq competition, pub night, truck show, raffle, dinner and dance. Event is hosted by the Drayton Kinsmen and takes place at the Drayton Fairgrounds in Drayton on June 9th (6:00pm-11:00pm) and June 10th (12:00pm-1:00am). Saturday, June 10th Events

Moses Springer Outdoor Pool opening: Moses Springer Outdoor pool offers special event days, party rentals, swim lessons and more from June 10th onward. Drop in the week of June 26-30 for a free Aquafit class! Check out the City of Waterloo website for more info and their schedule of events!
 
Etsy Local Market: Join Etsy Canada and the City of Waterloo at the 2nd annual Etsy local market on June 10th from 10:00am to 5:00 pm at Forbes Hall in RIM Park. An incredible group of talented Etsy shops will be on site to sell their handmade wares and art. Find more info on the Etsy Waterloo Region site.
 
STEAM Heat: Join community partners from the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) streams for a fun day of play and learning. Various stations will feature games, experiments, make and takes, and open creative play on topics from coding to slime making, construction design to robotics. This popular, free event is a great activity the whole family can enjoy. STEAM Heat takes place at the Waterloo Public Library Main Branch from 1:00pm-4:00pm on June 10th. Sunday, June 11th Events

Grand Porch Party: Don’t miss the 7th year of the Grand Porch Party! Organized by neighborhood volunteers with the support of the City of Waterloo, the Grand Porch Party is a grand celebration of music in Waterloo. This unique music festival is held on the front porches of homes in Uptown Waterloo. Enjoy a wide range of musical talent, food trucks, indie merch, and a kids music garden. The event is free with small fees for food and merchandise. Event takes place Sunday June 11th from 2:00pm to 5:00 pm in the Uptown West Neighborhood. Friday, June 16th Events

Relay for Life Waterloo-Wellington: Relay for Life is the national signature event of the Canadian Cancer Society and one of the biggest fundraising events in Canada. It is a festival-like fundraiser where each team takes turns walking around a track or designated path to symbolize the ongoing fight against cancer. This year, the Canadian Cancer Society is bringing together Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo for one big Relay event. The event runs Friday, June 16that 7:00pm until Saturday June 17th at 7:00 am at 1128 Rife Road in Ayr. For more information, check out the Relay for Life Waterloo website.
 
Waterloo Region Tacofest promises three things: tacos, craft beer, and good times. All proceeds from the event will support Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More, which works with hundreds of local volunteers to help people live at home with dignity and independence. Tacofest features 16 local restaurants and their finest tacos, 16 craft breweries serving their best local brews, and lots of fun music. Tacofest is already sold out, so hopefully you’ve already got your tickets! The event takes place Friday, June 16th from 6:00pm to 10:30 pm. You can find more info on the Tacofest website!
 

Saturday, June 17th Events

Solstice Sampling: Sample delicious culinary creations and beverages from Uptown Waterloo eateries while you enjoy the musical stylings of Rufus in Waterloo Public Square. Sample and drink tickets are 5$ each and there will be tons of options available from pub fare, to Carribbean food, pie, juice, cake and more! Sunday, June 18th Events

Open Streets: Open Streets embodies the livable cities movement and promotes walking, dancing, playing and socializing in our city’s public spaces. Enjoy live music, art, activities, community groups, business, eateries and more along the Laurel and Spurline trails in Uptown Waterloo. The event is totally free (aside from food trucks and some merchandise) featuring activities the whole family can enjoy. Event takes place Sunday, July 18th from 12:00pm to 5:00pm in Uptown Waterloo. Saturday, June 24th Events

KW Multicultural Festival: The fiftieth annual Kitchener Waterloo multicultural festival is sure to be the biggest celebration of multiculturalism in Canada that Waterloo has ever seen! This is a fantastic event that gets better every year with tons of great activities, vendors, and music the whole family can enjoy. And did we mention the food?! Enjoy a wide range of cultural delights at the festival from African food to Indian food to Mexican food – AND MORE! This event begins Sunday June 24th and runs until the evening on Sunday June 25th.
