What do we know about the all-electric Ram so far?

What do we know about the all-electric Ram so far?

Sustainability is a hot topic today, as it most certainly should be. So, all-electric pickup trucks are a very welcome development in the automotive industry. The Ram CEO, Mark Koval, has confirmed that the new all-electric model should be on the streets in 2024. Here’s what to expect from it.

Figuratively, yes! Not literally, though, for the sake of the environment. Pickup trucks have been evolving towards energy efficiency for a while. Yet, electric vehicles seem to be the way forward.

According to Koval, the new Ram 1500 EV will surpass its competitors in power, range, and convenience. The new RAM Electric Truck was announced at the 2021 Stellantis EV Day. It’s one of the main events in this industry for investors and consumers.

Stellantis’ updates on its cars bring four different electric batteries, with autonomy ranging between 300 miles and 500 miles. The next Ram Electric Truck will use the STLA Frame system for 500 miles.

That’s much more than other models, like Ford F-15 Lightning, that only goes up to 300 miles. So, it’s starting the race way ahead of its competitors. Ram’s fans can also expect to see a range extender in the next lineup. A range extender uses a kind of combustion engine to power up the battery.

Although some specs of the new all-electric Ram Electric Truck are out, no one really knows how to call it yet. Rumours have it; it’ll be named “Revolution,” although Mike Koval says that “all the options are on the table.”

Stellantis is committed to the electrification of all its 14 brands, including Fiat, Maserati, and Chrysler. They will all use one of the four BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicle). Koval has already said that the STLA Frame system is too big for a middle-sized vehicle. So, we can expect a large one to come.

The European market is shifting quickly to the electric option. Until 2030, about 70% of the cars on sale will be EV. BEV cars already comprise over 70% of the Canadian fleet in some states. So, there’ll be plenty of space for EV cars. Although it may still be too soon to talk prices, RAM EV Canada is expected to cost between $50,000 and $60,000.
